A True Story of the Great Escape is an historical investigation into the fate of Louise’s uncle, WW2 Squadron Leader John “Willy” Williams, one of the leaders of the famous ‘Great Escape’ from Stalag Luft III. Pieced together from de-classified documents, interviews, oral histories and personal letters and recollections, A True Story of the Great Escape (Allen and Unwin) was first published in Australia and in the UK in 2015 (Amberley Publishing) and republished in both markets in 2017.

On the Wire; an Australian Journalist on the Frontline in Asia is a collection of Louise’s writing from the mid-1980s to the early 90s, including several long form pieces previously published in Rolling Stone magazine. It was published by Simon and Schuster, Sydney in 1992.
